D&H Equipment designs and manufactures asphalt booster heaters. These heaters operate by circulating liquid asphalt directly through a vertical helical coil heater. A burner mounted at the bottom of the elevated heater provides two-pass heating directly to the asphalt coil. These solutions have the capacity to quickly provide up to a 75°F rise in asphalt temperature as it passes through the system at approximately 300gpm.
This direct heating solution can be more efficient than indirect heat, but requires a steady flow of asphalt through the system to prevent overheating. This solution is ideal for circulating a large tank before supply of material to a loading rack, blending system, or processing tank as it allows the material to be held at a lower storage temperature and quickly heated upon demand.
D&H also offers a portable booster heater as a mobile solution to rapidly heat virgin asphalt inline as well as provide additional storage for unloading transports. The unique design of this portable unit is the hydraulic-actuated booster heater which allows for vertical operation (so the asphalt can be drained after use) and then stored horizontally for transport.
This booster heater is configured so the tank’s outlet receives oil directly from the heater supplying, the hottest oil available. This unit is also equipped with a heater supply pump and optional separate transport pump.
Benefits of Asphalt Booster Heaters:
More efficient heat transfer than hot oil systems (but require a steady flow of material)
Saves energy cost by reducing tank storage temperatures and heating product as needed
Efficient transfer when loading and unloading at the terminal and or emulsion plant
Allows viscous material to be re-circulated externally to heat tanks
